OK, it is after midnight here and Aaron and I just finished watching "Babel" and even though I should be sleeping, I just had to say that I cannot believe how completely awful that movie was!!! How on earth that movie was nominated for Best Picture is beyond me. One review I just read summed it up perfectly: "It is a pretentious piece of poop and anyone who says they like it are just saying that because they think they are supposed to."
Pretentious. Piece. Of. Poop.

Oh, but you know that the best way to get me to do something is to tell me, "Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, do this."

In light of your comments, Kristen, that review sounds like a classic example of ENCS--Emperor's New Clothes Syndrome: Love something not because you genuinely love it (and can articulate WHY you love it) but because someone--who certainly MUST know more than you--said you should love it.
Ya know, what this country needs is a good healthy dose of critical/analytical thinking syrum.

OK. Let me see if I can actually get my point straight. (SHEESH!) What I MEANT to say was that the review seems to nail the mentality of the PUBLIC-AT-LARGE when it comes to taste, that is, that the PUBLIC-AT-LARGE suffers from ENCS and desperately needs the syrum thingy.
Seems I need to work on my own ability to articulate. That or just lay off the sauce. How embarrassing.

Ern - at least I warned you!! And I wouldn't say "just a little poop" I would say a whole lot! But I do know what you mean, I have done that with a lot of movies with the thought "oh, it can't be that bad..." but it usually is. But I am now totally curious to hear what you think, so let me know.

You were right. It sucked! Two hours of suck. The acting was good, but that is all I can say. And unfortunately they were acting a stupid movie.
We rented one a week ago that was SO good I can't believe it. The Prestige. You should check that one out. :)
OOH! We actually just got The Prestige, so now I can't wait to watch it! Thanks! Oh, and totally laughing that you disliked that pile of poop, too. :o) See, we have good taste!
