Another Thing I Love About Virginia or Where I Went Last Week...

My niece and nephew, Vanessa and Kaden, were in town last week and we all had such a great time. Here are a couple of pictures from when we went to the Jamestown Settlement - as you probably guessed, the place is a recreation of the original settlement and is adjacent to the actual site. It's really neat and actually pretty humbling to go walking around a place like that. And where else can you find mini-armor for a photo op like this?!

The boat is a recreation of one of the boats that carried the settlers over - you wouldn't believe how small they are, especially considering how many people were crammed into them. I never would have made it! There is a reason I was born when and where I was!

That looks like a lot of fun! I love those recreational historic places. We have many museums near our house, but one I've been meaning to check out is called The End of the Oregon Trail Museum. It has three GIANT covered wagon frames out front (they are significantly larger than a two story home, so they are obviously not to scale).

It was a super fun visit and we did SO MUCH! This area just has tons and tons of history and natural beauty. Jamestown isn't even my favorite by a long shot, but I thought the pics were the cutest. I also almost crashed my computer by trying to post all the ones I wanted, so I settled for these instead of redoing everything since it had already been so long since I posted. But I am glad you guys liked the pics! I am going to try and post more often, I promise!
