Happy Easter, one and all!

I hope all of you have had a wonderful Easter! We had a very nice day ourselves. The boys, of course, were spoiled rotten by that dang Easter Bunny - who, oddly enough, has the very same induldgent ways as my hubby. Go figure!

We had a great Easter! Keith and I went up to Seattle to visit my bro and sis and the nephew, etc., etc.
Keith and I went bird watching while the rest of the family went to church. We were suprisingly hard-pressed to find a decent birding location up there. All the nearby green-space was country clubs and golf courses (sad!). The best park we could find had 8 soccer fields, 9 baseball fields, a climbing wall and an off-leash dog park. It was entirely tailored to human recreation! Oh well... we did alright, all things considered. I'm feeling more and more thankful that we never moved up there.
It was a beautiful Easter, though! Spring is finally coming out of hiding! Yay!

That sounds like a fun weekend, but I hear you on the park thing. Being here and having so many woods and wild surroundings has spoiled me. I was just thinking about how, in SLC, there is nothing like that. All the wild spots are on the outskirts or up in the canyons. Granted - there are no canyons here, so it is a trade-off. I am surprised that Seattle wasn't more eco-friendly. It always seems to come off that way. I was just reading more about Oregon in my National Geographic Adventure magazine and they were just raving about it. Aaron and I are trying to figure out where we want to end up. Utah is not looking like a viable option anymore. Home prices are insane. And I am rambling on! I'll stop. But does it rain a lot up there? I have noticed I am surprisingly affected by the weather. When it rains here I can barely get out of bed, but when it is sunny all is well. Crazy. And now I really will stop!

I wouldn't necessarily consider Seattle a green city, but I'm sure it's up there. I'm not sure where it ranks nationally, but I know San Fran gets better scores than Seattle. Portland is always top ranking, when San Fran doesn't beat it out (they're always neck-n-neck). Seattle has horrible traffic and every time a lightrail system is up for vote for, those derned Seattlites smash it down. They love their cars, I guess (tsk-tsk).
Portland has turned their undesirable old industrial areas into the hottest "green" neighborhoods. Their environmental efforts in city planning are really impressive. But, the house prices are WAY worse than in Utah, I guarantee you that. And, yes, it rains and rains. It's not *always* bad, but this winter was particularly grey. That would definitely get to you.
